We want you to do your best, to challenge yourself, and leave feeling better than you ever thought you would.

We love what we do, and we want to share our method with a new audience by creating the country’s first purpose-built, boxing-inspired group training studio.

We offer a style of training that delivers physical and mental benefits in a high energy and invigorating environment where you work at your own level and set your own goals. Boxing works the body and the mind - we provide the education and the opportunity.

Studio Box is never about beating an opponent, nor about proving yourself to those around you – it is a program that empowers you to draw on your own spirit.

From beginner to advanced, we want you to do your best, to challenge yourself, and leave feeling better than you ever thought you would. It’s YOU who does the work.

As soon as the door closes and the bell rings, it’s up to each individual to push through ten rounds and see just how far they can go.

“As a former professional athlete and qualified personal trainer, I know how hard an individual has to work to attain and maintain a high level of fitness. It’s also essential that you stay challenged and motivated, which is where a lot of people fall down.”

When I started boxing, I immediately fell in love with the full-body workout that it provides. Every session requires you to be totally present and challenges you physically in different ways, and the mental strength, confidence and sense of calm it provided me was second to none.

I wanted to spread the word, so started boxing with clients and watched as they too were transformed by the experience. Teaching people how to box one-on-one showed me the amazing impact it has on energy and mood, and this inspired me to want to share those results with as many people as I can. This is where the concept of Studio Box was born!

I assembled a team and we travelled to Los Angeles and New York to explore the fitness market there, finally deciding to open our own studio here in New Zealand. We want to give boxing to the everyday person, in a welcoming, positive and non-intimidating way.

If you want to box, and you want to get in shape, we think this is a great place to start and hopefully, you’ll become part of the family.

The Studio Box method takes all the good parts of boxing and wraps it together in a super motivating environment that will leave participants on a physical and emotional high – this is our promise to you.

So come and see what Studio Box can do for you. Get out of your box, talk yourself through it, feel the pace and beat your will. Get hooked!

What is a Studio Box class like?

The Studio Box workout has been created to maximise your fitness potential. Pumping sounds and choreographed lighting stimulate the senses and keep you on your toes.

Studio Box will pit you against your fiercest opponent – yourself. Push yourself to limits you didn’t know you were capable of in this non-contact class. We’ll help you keep getting fitter and stronger, in under an hour. Some of the country’s finest instructors will guide you from a dynamic warm-up, through ten rounds of boxing-inspired fitness and strength training, to a restorative cool down.

Studio Box challenges you to work with your own weight and our ‘unique ‘water filled’ punching bags for well-earned results.

I’ve never boxed before; will I be able to keep up?

Our workouts are designed to allow everyone to go at their own pace. Five minutes before class we’ll call those new to Studio Box into the studio for our “pre-class”, where we go over the six punches.

Is there a beginner class?

No, but all of our classes are suitable for beginners. Trainers offer modifications for all of the exercises we do, so there are options for all levels. We also offer private coaching if you’d like to learn some one-on-one technique before you step into a class setting, but it’s certainly not a prerequisite.

Do I need my own gloves and wraps?

Not at all. Gloves are available to rent for $3 and wraps are yours to keep for $10 at the front desk, but if you have your own pair, even better!  Wraps are necessary and help protect your hands and wrists while punching the bag. These only take seconds to slip on and are machine washable.

Where are you located?

17 Crowhurst Street, Newmarket, Auckland 1023

Where is the best parking?

It’s first in, first served for the Studio Box allocated car parks in front of the studio, but there is plenty of parking on nearby Melrose Street, Crowhurst Street, Kent Street and Teed Street.

Do you have lockers?

Yes, lockers are available in both changing rooms and the transition area. No need to bring a lock, each locker has a built-in digital lock.

Do you have water or should I bring my own?

We do sell water at the front desk, but if you’d prefer to bring your own water bottle, we also have a filling station available in our transition space.

Is there food available at Studio Box?

Yes, there is a refuel fridge with carefully curated refuelling options, from recovery drinks, snacks and bars, to cold-pressed juices and other refreshments.

How old do you have to be to take a class?

Do you offer corporate events or private classes for groups?

Yes! Contact us and we’ll send through all of the information you’ll need about hosting your next corporate outing at our place, from booking details to how we can create bespoke experiences especially for you. Email contact@studio-box.co.

Do I need to create an account to book a bag?

Yes, you will need to create an account before booking a bag.

Do I have to buy a package or a membership?

No. You can buy a single class if you’re terrified of commitment! We offer a ‘new guest’ package, which allows you to purchase one class and the second one is on us.

Can I book online?

Absolutely.  Create an account online and then buy some classes or a membership package. After that, you can go ahead and reserve your spot online.

What options do I have for buying classes?

We have two options available – you can buy packs of classes or sign up for a membership. As you’d expect, the more you commit, the more you save.

Packages are best if you want to keep it casual, as they let you use classes whenever it suits you.If you want to reach your goals faster, it’s best to commit. Decide how many times you’ll come per week and sign up for a membership that matches your goals.

Can I transfer or share my class package or membership?

Absolutely! Individual classes (or classes purchased as part of a class package) can be shared amongst guests. Memberships, however, are non-transferable.

When do classes become available to book online?

Two full weeks of classes are always available for booking.

How does the waitlist work?

If the class you want to attend is full, you can join a waitlist. As people cancel, you will be automatically added in the order that you signed up. After the 12-hour mark, we will call you if we are able to secure you a spot in the class. We can only hold the spot if we're able to reach you; otherwise, we will release it to the next guest on the waitlist. That said we always encourage waitlisted guests to come to the studio, as we are often able to get guests in on a walk-in basis.

What is your cancellation policy?

All we ask is that if you are not going to be able to make the class, you cancel at least 12 hours prior. This allows us to make sure someone else gets that bag if you can’t make it! Anything cancelled less than 12 hours before class starts is a late cancel, and you do forfeit the class.

What if I miss a class?

If you book a class and don’t show up, you will lose your class credit.

Can I move my booking?

If you are outside the 12-hour no-cancellation window, you can always move to another class (that’s not already sold out).  If you would like to attempt a same day switch, which is permitted without losing a credit (subject to availability), please email us at contact@studio-box.co.

When should I arrive?

We recommend arriving at the studio 15 minutes before a class for check-in.

What do I do when I get there?

Come introduce yourself to us at the front desk and mention that it is your first time. We’ll make sure one of our team shows you around and that you’re well taken care of.

What if I’m running late?

To ensure that you don’t lose your spot to someone on the waitlist, please arrive at least five minutes prior to the start of your class. To be respectful of others, there will be no entry five minutes after the class has started.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to sweat. A lot! Complimentary workout towels are provided for exactly that reason.

Do I need special footwear?

Most guests wear everyday cross-trainers, and boxing shoes are acceptable but not necessary. Please note shoes MUST be worn; bare feet are absolutely not allowed in the studio room.

Do you have showers?

We do. There are multiple showers in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms. Towels, hair dryers, styling tools and bath and body products are also provided.

What are the key benefits of boxing?

There are too many to name, but they include:
Fat burning
An increased metabolism
Increased muscle tone
Increased cardiovascular fitness
Improved strength and core stability
Improved hand-eye coordination
Improved reaction to stress

Is boxing good for you?

A Studio Box class is HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), strength training, conditioning, and cardio all in one - making it an incredible total body workout. The combination of cardio and strength training will allow you to burn calories without bulking up. Our aqua bags reduce the impact on your joints, and the shape increases trainer visibility so that you'll never feel lost during class. During exercise endorphins are released, meaning after our boxing class you’ll walk out feeling happier too!

Will I lose weight boxing?

Boxing has proven to be one of the most effective forms of exercise for losing weight. The combination of burning calories and gaining muscle directly results in weight loss.

Why should I choose boxing?

Boxing keeps your body guessing, making it nearly impossible to hit a weight loss plateau, and even less likely for you to get bored. The back and forth between aerobic and anaerobic exercise means you're training on an entirely new level. Even better, the boost in your metabolism ensures you'll be burning calories throughout the class, and long after you leave.

Enjoy a one-on-one session with your favourite trainer. A great way to enhance the class experience and build endurance and strength while focusing on boxing fundamentals. An experience for all levels, from those seeking an intro to boxing to the seasoned veteran pursuing a higher level of overall fitness. Please email contact@studio-box.co to book your PT
